Battle of Bunker Hill Day! June 17 1775

Image
Well              could you imagine the confusion ,noise and rumors that were flying that day when men and young boys ran to Charleston for the battle of Bunker Hill. In my reading I found that as far away as Dover NH the men ran to help and bring the gun powder stored in their communities. General Putnam was leading an awfully unruly group .How could it possible be done? The British had more casualties  though than the Americans in the end.

FLAG DAY JUNE 14th

Image
So today is FLAG DAY! I made this flag to celebrate our country's flag. Here is a rag rug for the wall created to resemble our country's flag. Created from cut strips of blue jeans, khaki and burgundy fabric. Measures 26 inches wide by 14 inches high. Prim folks will love the aged look of the colors chosen to create this..Blue jeans are old worn ones that have that rich light and dark aging.. It can be hung on the wall with the rod pocket that is woven into the back.I used brown cotton warp thread for the ground. You can purchase this from the side bar of this blog . Also you can purchase an iron rod to hang it on from the Scottish Lion ,my husband the blacksmith. He added spirals to the ends of the rod.

Driftwood stool or what is it?

Image
This is a curious chair!!! What do you suppose it is? A martian? A worm? I see an alpaca , lama . Tell me what you think. I would love to hear. Andy made this from driftwood collected down by the ocean. He put a marbles in for the eyes and wrapped a rock in metal and has it poking out the top. There is a platform for your feet to rest on and it is very comfortable to sit in.You sit with your back rested against the neck of the creature . This will hold a large person comfortably. So creative but so comfortable. A one of a kind piece. Driftwood Summer
