Fishtail swag curtain brackets are very popular here at the Scottish lion and Village Weaver. Shown is a plain design swag bracket held on by two screws fastened to the window frame. Black,tan with Mustard stripe windowpane check is the style curtain shown. This can be custom ordered to your window size.

I hand cut the cotton rag strips from old jeans, heavy drapery fabrics and twill heavy fabric that is new.This is 24 inches by 48 inches (2ftx4ft) Totally machine washable and should give you years of service.Do not use bleach .Then the colors will stay fresh. Woven blankets and rugs

Here is a picture of some of the many items carried here at SLB&F! Starting at the top Cotton woven bedspreads and Maine wool blankets. Alpaca and mohair throws. Rag rugs, cards created by Maine artists and paintings of summer at the beach by Jane Herbert. Also you can see the rod and hook just showing a little bit at the top, by the Lion created to hold blankets.

Sundial for the garden! Spring !!!

A garden center piece this sundial can rotate to point to the north star. Standing on a base it is created by the Scottish Lion. We are thinking Spring here on the coast in Maine even with our snow banks piled high.

Mohair scarfs and throws hand woven!

Oh so soft!!! Mohair is a gorgeous fiber. Here at SLB&F you can see we have a wonderful selection .Woven on a large hand loom and crafted with special care. These items make a great present or gift to your self.

Old and new cupboard!

Primitive raised panel door on the cupboard is old and the cupboard was built to make use of this beautiful door. Also on display are pewter and pottery plates,dishes formed around a mussel shell, pewter candle holders and a pair of woven place mats,Recipe painting(see post of Recipe painting below),iron plate stand holding plate on top of cupboard and more here waiting for you to see.

Our new house !!

This is a picture of our new house in Bristol. Isn't it a Classic? We just love this federal style house that is so common around here. Check out the lantern over the front door. Andy ,Scottish Lion Blacksmith, made that iron bracket 20 years ago and now we live here .The front door is new and fresh paint last fall with new heart hindges. The stone carving is of a wild boar by Don Meserve. More about him in future blogs. Cheers!

Alpaca blankets have arrived at the shop!

So soft and dreamy. Alpaca wool is not prickly. Smooth to the touch ,these are hand woven throws that are light but warm. You must stop by to see!

HOT off the anvil!!!

This is a SUNDIAL to be used in a garden.Better photos to come but I am so excited . Andrew is getting geared up for spring . He is creating again after a long winter and a long period with moving wore him out. Andrew would like to get $450 plus shipping It drives into the ground . Swivals around on the pedestal. Point the arrow to the north star for it to tell the time. It will then cast a shadow across the time band.Love it!

Metal artist Andrew Leck created this past week a piece of american folk art! All out of found objects and metals Red is a moose playing a dulcimer with copper strings. Copper antilers,cones,marble eyes, springs for arms he is owned already by Kim and Mike.
