He is creating them this week so stop by soon.
This balances on a single point and spins in a circle . Very special because no two are a like.

Patriots' Day April 18

Celebrated here in Maine and Massachusetts ,Patriots' Day is the commemorative day for the Battle of Lexington and Concord ,

"where the shot heard around the world" ,was fired. Issac Davis was the first to fall . He was a farmer and a gunsmith. He was the Captain of his group later called "the Minutemen" . His statue of him stands with a musket in one hand and a plowshare in the other.

I particularly would like to commemorate this battle . This is still a struggle today with taxation . So many have given their lives for our freedom that we do not want to take it lightly.
Here at Scottish Lion and Friends we hold onto these same ideals of freedom. We offer an opportunity here as well for others to show their work and talents.

Maine the way life should be , well freedom is one of those things. We support American made , and Maine made for just that reason. We are talking about lives and families .

I feel particularly sensitive this week as we lost another artist to suicide. Times are tough and economics are real . Your dollar speaks volumes. Thanks for reading this . Leave your comment ,I 'd like to hear your thoughts.

Old Fashioned wash tubs

Wash tub?Heating hot water?Cooking?
Cast Iron creosote from chimney
Could this be what these are? Wash tubs inset into the chimney? They have built in fireboxes underneath that the flue connects to the chimney. I love the cabinets built in to the chimney . If I were able to use this I imagine they would be warm and perfect for raising bread, making yogurt or keeping warm dishes. There are two of these cast iron tubs . Filled with hot water you could keep pots of food warm. This was an early farm house from the early 1800's and if they had a lot of folks to feed. .. well,
I saw this once at a Shaker Village in Hancock ,MA.They had water under all the cooking pots. Does any one know?
This is in my kitchen now but years ago this was an unheated section of the house and it was only used in the summer/fall. On the other side of this chimney was the kitchen/keeping room.

Winter in Maine

"Lunar Ball" spins in the wind on a granite pedestal

Blacksmith shop in first light 2011
First light in our yard after a large snow fall. Andy's blacksmith shop is glowing. The small out buildings are in hibernation till spring. The "Lunar Ball" is highlighted with snow. I like the contrast it adds to the glass eye.
